2011/2012 Current Openings


Our Season begins around Thanksgiving weekend in November – beginning of December 2011. Snow conditions permitting, our target opening day is November 25, 2011. Depending on snow levels and weather conditions, our season ends April 8, 2012.

JOB POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

 
MOUNTAIN OPERATIONS: Hours depend on snow conditions

Mt Operations is accountable for operating and maintaining the outside services of our ski resort. Mt Operations areas include: Base Operations, Grooming, Lift Maintenance, Lift Attendants, Ticket Checker, Facilities Maintenance, Tubing Hill Attendant, and Ski Check Attendant. These jobs are worked in extreme weather conditions including at times: bright sun, heavy snow storms, and thick fog with very low visibility, rain, freezing rain, winds, slushy conditions, muddy conditions. The environment can and does change very quickly. The employees in this department must be physically able to shovel snow, and lift up to 60 lbs repetitively.  The jobs in this department are both exciting and fun at times and very serene at times. Day and Night shifts available. Must be able to pass background check and drug test. 

Depending on the number of guests, weather conditions and other variable and changing conditions those hired to work in Mt. Operations duties may include any/and or all of the following: Lift Operator: Loading and operating ski lifts, day and night shifts available. Ski Check Attendant. Tubing Hill Attendant: Attending and monitoring tubing hill. Parking Lot Attendant: Directing traffic to assist guests in parking their cars, and shuttling guests to and from the parking lots. Keeping walkways clear of snow and facilities and grounds clean. Those who operate Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park cars or equipment must have a current valid drivers’ license and proof of current automobile insurance. Copy of driving record must also be provided. Other duties as assigned. Mt. Spokane reserves the right to transfer employee to another department if needed for assuring exceptional guest service.

Suggested clothing for those men and women who work in Mt. Operations:

2 pair of insulated long underwear. (2 shirts, 2 pair of pants) Shirts that fit over the thermal underwear, sweaters and or sweat shirts that fit over both of these shirts. Black waterproof overall type pants that fit over trousers, such as ski, snow board, or snow mobile bibs or pants. Insulated waterproof boots that are suitable to walk on snow and ice. Cold weather socks and liners. Gloves that are made for extreme cold and wet conditions, such as ski, snow mobile, or snowboarding gloves and mittens. Scarf to protect face.

Up to 56 hours per week. Over time paid starting at 57 hours worked in a single week.


GUEST SERVICES: Hours depend on snow conditions

Most are inside positions. Guest Service areas include: Snow Sports Center, Ticket Counter, Rentals, Day Care. Employees who work in these departments must be able to handle extremely busy times selling high volume of goods and services to many guests quickly and efficiently. Accurate cash handling skills required, aptitude for mathematics and ability to remain calm under pressure are skills vital to the success of these positions. Those working in these positions will be expected to up-sell goods and services offered throughout the resort. Must be able to pass background check and drug test.   Bring warm indoor clothing to layer when cold air comes through windows and doorways. Other duties may be assigned according to the department you are working in. Mt. Spokane reserves the right to transfer employee to another department if needed for assuring first-rate guest service.  Day and Night shifts available. Up to 56 hours per week. Over time paid starting at 57 hours worked in a single week.


FOOD & BEVERAGE: Hours depend on snow conditions

These are inside positions. At times, you may be asked to work outside when we have a BBQ on the deck. Locations include Lodge 1 Snack Bar, Vista House, Lodge 2 Cafeteria, and Lodge 2 Foggy Bottom Lounge. Employees who work in Food & Beverage must be able to handle extremely busy times preparing and selling high volume of goods and services to many guests quickly and efficiently. Those who work in this department must have the ability to remain calm under pressure and be motivated to discern, seek out, and take care of tasks as they need to be done in an efficient and mature manner. Those working in these positions will be expected to up-sell goods and services offered throughout the resort. Bring warm indoor clothing to layer when cold air comes through windows and doorways. Must be able to pass background check and drug test.   All positions in Food & Beverage will be expected to carry out any and all duties as assigned, whether this may be food prep, cashier, cleaning, or other as needed. Mt. Spokane reserves the right to transfer employee to another department if needed at times for assuring superlative guest service.  Day and Night shifts available.

Up to 56 hours per week. Over time paid starting at 57 hours worked in a single week.


JOB POSITIONS


Base Crew:  Keep walkways clear for safety of guests and fellow employees. Assist in parking lot.  High guest contact, this team provides essential helpful, first-rate Guest Service.  Apply through WorkSource Spokane until November 3. Job Fair November 5.


Shuttle Bus Driver: Shuttle guests between parking lots and lodges.  As the first point of contact with many of our guests, welcome them with first-class Guest Service. Must have clean driving record, be currently insured, and have a current valid drivers’ license and proof of current automobile insurance. CDL not required but encouraged. Lift Attendant, Day & Night Shifts:  Must be at least 18 years of age at time of applying. Assist guests safely on and off of chairs. Maintain safe loading ramps. These team members provide welcoming, friendly, fabulous guest service. Apply through WorkSource Spokane until November 3. Job Fair November 5.


Tubing Hill Attendant: Assist in safe operations of  tubing hill. Welcome the families in our community and visiting families with friendly, energetic, first-rate guest service. Apply through WorkSource Spokane until November 3. Job Fair November 5.


Terrain Park Attendant: Must be at least 18 years of age at time of applying. Maintain park features, assuring our guests are properly supervised and have safety awareness education and use Freestyle Terrain etiquette.  This team delivers energetic, safe, marvelous guest service. Groomers:  THIS IS A NIGHT POSITION. Keeping safety a priority, provide the best possible snow surfaces to our guests using our fleet of Prinoth Snowcats. Must have clean driving record, be currently insured, and have a current valid drivers’ license and proof of current automobile insurance. Rental Technician: Keeping safety a priority, responsible for rental equipment upkeep and adjustments. Ability to efficiently fit boots and set bindings by cheerfully and professionally communicating with the guests. Knowledge of ski & snowboard gear essential, as well as waxing, tuning, and sharpening. Provide fast, friendly, service to guests with information and assistance by answering questions, giving directions. Apply through WorkSource Spokane until November 3. Job Fair November 5.


Rental Retail Agent: Responsible for the sale of Rental and Retail items using cash controls in a prompt and courteous manner. Provide guests with information and assistance by answering questions, giving directions and participating in complaint resolution. Ticket Counter Agent: Responsible for the sale of lift tickets using cash controls in a prompt and courteous manner. Provide guests with information and assistance by answering questions, giving directions and participating in complaint resolution. Sell and process lift tickets. Ticket Checker: Responsible for assuring that all guests have a bona fide ticket or authentic season pass when loading on / loading off the ski lifts. Guest service skills are vital to achieving this task as you welcome and greet guests while checking for validity. First-class guest service skills are a must as you provide this essential service resolving any issues according to mountain policy. Outside 100% of time. Snow Sports Center Agent: Responsible for the sale of Season Passes, Lift Tickets, and Snow Sports Lessons using cash controls in a prompt and courteous manner. Provide guests with information and assistance by answering questions, giving directions and participating in complaint resolution. Sell and process Season Passes, lift tickets, and Ski and Snowboard Lessons. These team members provide mature, cheerful, knowledgeable and superb guest service. Day Care Attendant: Responsible for the health, safety and comfort of the children in day care that are left in the care of the Mt. Spokane Snow Play day care center. Line/Prep Cook: Responsible for the overall preparation and presentation of food from the Mt. Spokane Ski & Snow Board Park.  Will provide breakfast, lunch & dinner to our guests. Competent, well-organized, safe production of all menu items using inventory controls and policies at all times. Must have current Washington State Food Service Permit. Cafeteria Cashier: Primary responsibility is for the sale of food and beverage using cash controls in a prompt and courteous manner. Provide guests with information and assistance by answering questions, giving directions for the mountain. These team members provide friendly efficient, knowledgeable and marvelous guest service.  Must have current Washington State Food Service Permit. Apply through WorkSource Spokane until November 3. Bus Person: Primary responsibility is the cleanliness and stocking of the food and beverage areas, including the FOH and BOH in a prompt and courteous manner. Provide guests with information and assistance by answering questions, giving directions for the mountain. These team members provide cheerful, efficient quality guest service. Bartender:  Primary responsibility is for the sale of beer, food, and beverages using cash controls in a prompt and courteous manner. Provide guests with information and assistance by answering questions, giving directions for the mountain. These team members provide efficient, cheerful, knowledgeable and marvelous guest service.
