Mount Spokane State Park

Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park is located within Mount Spokane State Park, the largest of Washington's State Parks at 13,919 acres.  Recreational opportunities abound within the Park.  Winter recreationalists can nordic ski, snowshoe, dogsled, snowmobile, and hike in Mount Spokane State Park.

A Sno-Park permit is necessary for parking in snowmobile or cross-country ski lots within the Park from November 1 through May 1.

  • A seasonal Sno-Park permit allows users to park in Mount Spokane State Park lots all season long.  The seasonal permit is $40 and is transferable between two vehicles.

  • A special groomed trails permit sticker is required for users of the groomed trails within the State Park, including nordic skiers and snowmobilers.  The special groomed trails permit is $40.

  • A one-day Sno-Park permit is also available, which allows users to both park in designated lots, and use the groomed trails and/or ungroomed trails, for a single day.  This permit is $20. 

You may purchase the Sno-Park and special groomed trails permits online, or at the Snow Sports Center inside Lodge 2 at Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park.  Vehicles are NOT allowed to park overnight within the State Park; vehicles left unattended after Park closing will be towed.

Nordic Skiing

Mount Spokane State Park features an extensive Nordic trail system made up of over 25 kilometers of groomed x-country ski trails.

The trails are groomed every day but Tuesday and Wednesday.  Please call (509) 238-4025 for the Nordic snow report and the most up-to-date grooming and weather conditions.

Dogsledding

Dogsledding is allowed within Mount Spokane State Park, on ungroomed winter trails only.  Dogs are NOT allowed on x-country ski trails.  Some tips for dog teams:

  • Pick up and remove dog waste within the parking areas.  Leave no trace: Pack it in, Pack it out.

  • Dogs must be kept on a leash or tug within a one-mile radius of the parking area.

  • Dog sled drivers must look for signs of other users and be ready to control their team.

  • If in doubt about the trail conditions, remove some tugs and use a drag brake.

  • Try not to stop your team when there is low sight distance, i.e. blind curves, at the base of steep hills, etc.

  • When overtaking a slower team, ask the driver about passing and control your team.  Be very careful when completing a head-on pass.

Cross-country skiers, snowshoers with dog(s), skijorers on dog-approved trails are also welcome:

  • Dog(s) must be kept on a leash.  A loose dog getting into a dog team can lead to injuries.

  • Pick up and remove dog waste.  Leave no trace: Pack it in, pack it out.

  • Skijorers must follow the same rules as dog teams.

  • When being overtaken, move as far off the trail as practical and control your dog while the other team passes.

  • When meeting an oncoming team, move off the trail and control your dog.


Snowshoeing and snowmobiling are also permitted within the State Park.
