• Wow! This has been a tough season!  Although we received enough snow to get the mountain open early, we just haven’t seen the visits we are accustomed to.  Maybe 50+ degrees downtown has something to do with it?!  Needless to say, we have been learning to do more with less (as you can tell from our lack of blog updates!).  Regardless, we have been consistent in our operating hours and our grooming and terrain park staffs have been doing wonders with what Ma Nature has given them.  All-in-all, it has been a great season… lotsa sunny days, easy travel, etc.  We sure appreciate all of you guys and gals who came up to support the Mountain this year!

Here is some really good news for you: Season Passes for 2010-2011 are on sale now!  You will save some serious CA$H…if you act very soon!  These are the deepest discounts we have offered in years.

    Here is the Deal:
Existing 2009-2010 passholders get 15% OFF our best price for next season’s pass if they purchase before May 31st.  You can pass that savings along to friends as well.  For every friend you refer that buys a pass, that friend gets 15% off, and you will receive an additional 10% off!  Recommend 9 friends and you get a free season pass!

New passholders can ski or ride for FREE for the remainder of this 09-10 season and all of next season on a Pass Plus.  And, since we let the cat out of the bag above, find a current passholder and use their referral code to get 15% off too!

Next year’s climate predictions are favorable for an excellent ski season, so we will be working hard this summer to do many improvements to the mountain in anticipation of a great season.

    The New Lodge:
We are continuing to look for funding for the new lodge and we sincerely appreciate all the letters of support you sent to our legislators.  Right now, the State is in a bit of a budget crunch (to say the least), so the grand new lodge plan is still a few years off.  But we are continuing to work with legislators to get funding for an upgrade to the current facilities, to get us through.  As far as the ongoing terrain expansion project, we have completed terrain mapping and will be developing survey protocols very soon… stay tuned!

    Freestyle Terrain:
We are currently seeking passionate freestyle & terrain park enthusiasts (ski or snowboard) that can serve on a dedicated Freestyle Advisory Committee several times a year and offer ideas and advice on our freestyle terrain.  Please contact us at ticketsales@mtspokane.com if you are interested.
The sun is out in force today and everyone is working on their goggle tans!  Coverage is still excellent, the groomers are wall-to-wall, and you just can’t beat spring skiing in the sunshine - we’ll see you up here!

It seems like the new lodge is a perfect project for the stimulus package handouts. It sure beats some of the projects that Congress is funding. It not only creates temporary employment, but it produces permanent employment for generations. This is a no brainer, so contact our no-brainer representatives in DC to get this project started!

It seems like local skiers do not know good skiing unless they see it. This past weekend had the best conditions of the season - lots of fresh snow, sun, and late winter temps. You could not ask for more (unless someone was offerring free skis). Maybe next weekend, visitors from Michigan, Texas, Utah, and New Mexico will show better appreciation of the skiing opportunity that local skiers take for granted all season long. Put on those boards and ski, because the great conditions will not last forever.

That’s my plan. Coming in from Michigan for the NCAA Tournament. Semi-novice, but looking forward to the real thing.

Yes, conditions on the ‘Kan have been excellent! Day 85 for me was this past Saturday…all week I gave snowboard lesson’s to Hawaiian’s & Texan’s…they all rejoiced in the mountain environment that is the ‘Kan…many returned the next day…it was a great week in my book! And WOW! DJ spinning the good’s out on the Foggy Bottom deck…with great Acoustic sounds until closing…Mt Spokane needs more music, not only in the Foggy Bottom, but Terrain Park as well. I agree, and I am not a “Park Rat” by any means, but it’s a really, really good Park this year…kudo’s to the Park crew! I would love to sit on the Freestyle committee, as, although I have offered much feedback thru Comment cards about some idea’s for the Terrain Park, I feel sitting on a Freestyle Committee would allow for all voices to be heard with only a Positive end result…it was indeed, A Great Season up at Mt Spokane! PEACE… “dude”

This has been a great year. Thanks Mt. Spokane. My family and I love it. The mountain is family and kid friendly. In fact, I took my youngest and her cousin up skiing last Saturday with the family obstacle course and they had the best time, their favorite day they said. My wife even blogged about this year. Check it out at http://www.happyhensfarm.wordpress.com.

My wife and I support the new lodge. Keep up the fantastic job.

“Are you going to drive forever or are you gonna ski?”

OK so this season was not the epic powder season of the past two years - Nonetheless it was great! Paying even passing attention to elevation and slope aspect consistently yielded great skiing and we have been skiing fresh powder here in late March.

The staff of Mt Spokane, in every department, are far and away the best in the Inland Northwest. Mt Spokane is like a family of skiers and riders - All of staff have taken the time to get to know my two school age sons and are always encouraging to them, which definitely contributed to both of them enjoying breakthrough seasons this winter.

Playing in the snow from Thanksgiving through Easter with an amazing group of people - It’s all good :-)

I skied Mt. Spokane quite a bit over 30 years ago when I was in junior and senior high school. It’s a shame that the state more-or-less destroyed what was then a reasonably good public-private partnership. While it’s admirable that the area runs as a non-profit now, it can’t limp along much longer with slow, 40+ year old lifts. Yes, the lodge needs rebuilding, but because skiers spend most of their day on the hill, replacing and repositioning the ancient lifts really should be a priority.

However, I’m afraid that none of this is going to happen without private investment. And since the state seems completely against this, well . . .

THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE MT. SPOKANE STAFF, LIFT ATTENDANTS, FOOD & BEVERAGE AND THE UNSUNG HEROES AND HEROINES OF SKI SCHOOL, SKI PATROL AND MOUNTAIN OPERATIONS! THIS WAS A SEASON OF NUMEROUS GREAT EXPERIENCES FOR MY SONS AND I.
